中国同学，在未来规划这块，有两个趋势，要么特别理想（我要为人类做贡献），要么特别落地（赚钱）。

不是说这样有问题，而是，这可能并不是学校考察Career Goal的目的？

学校评价一份Career Goal是否好，标准可以简化为两步：

是否reasonable？（考察你对某行业的一般职业发展路径是否有common sense）

是否personal/insightful？（考察在了解的基础上，是否有自己真正的思考）

我们通过几个同学写的Samples来感受下。

Sample1:

I’d love to become an Investment banker at a leading bank such as Goldman Sachs. In the long run , I see myself become a successful private Equity investor at a well-known institution such as black stone.

Sample 2:

The balance between environmental protection and economic growth is a pressing issue facing China. For the past four years, I have been deeply involved in activities promoting sustainable development. Thus, my aspired career path aligns within the inter-discipline of environmental science and finance, particularly in the renewable energy section through entrepreneurship or becoming a venture capitalist. To this end, I aim to start my career as a business analyst in a flagship investment bank, focusing on the capital operation to facilitate sustainable development.

Sample 3:

The core of asset pricing is the evaluation of risk, and the aim is optimization of profit, with the solution resting in the partial and stochastic differential equation(PDE and SDE). My particular interest lies in heuristic and artificial intelligence(AI) in investment; selecting and appropriate asset portfolio is at the crux of fund management, with the focus being to find the efficient frontier associated with the standard mean-variance optimization model. Though many famous pricing models have been proposed, drawbacks exist due to certain factors such as the invalidation of the Efficient Market Hypothesis. I am keen to remodel such problems by applying heuristic and AI solutions such as genetic algorithms, neutral networks and tuba search. Ultimately, the capacity to handle more realistic problems is exactly what I want to explore, in addition to the freedom to fit a more general situation.

并不需要我过多解释。你肯定可以看出，上述Sample1，可勉强算“reasonable”；而Sample2和3才能达到“ reasonable and personal/insightful”了。
