When Yang Shen first captured Kunming's spring in all seasons, he used the phrase 'the weather is always like February or March, and the flowering branches keep springing at all times' to sum up the unique beauty of Kunming.

杨慎在《春望三绝》中写有“春城风物近元宵，柳亚帘拢花覆桥，欲把归期卜神语，紫姑灯火正萧条。”此诗作于昆明元宵节前，且《杨慎诗选》注释：“春城”指昆明。这算是“昆明=春城”的正式“命名”了。

Yang Shen wrote in his ‘Chunwang Sanjue', "The spring city is nearing the Lantern festival, the willow curtains are closing and the flowers are covering the bridge, I want to tell the gods the date of my return, but the Zigu lamps are in the doldrums." This poem was written before the Lantern Festival in Kunming, and it is noted in Yang Shen's Selected Poems that the term 'spring city' refers to Kunming. This is the official 'naming' of 'Kunming = Spring City'.

Yang Shen (杨慎), known as Youxiu (用修) and Shengan (升庵),

明朝著名文学家，明代三才子之首，在昆明，人们更喜欢称他为“升庵先生”。

Yang Shen was a famous literary scholar of the Ming Dynasty and the first of the Three Talents of the Ming Dynasty. In Kunming, people prefer to call him "Mr. Sheng'an".

37岁时，杨慎因朝堂之争被贬至边陲云南。从此，他的一生心系这一方热土，他踏遍半个云南的山山水水，他以诗文表民生疾苦，他不畏强权，维护百姓利益，深受人民爱戴。

At the age of 37, Yang Shen was relegated to the frontier of Yunnan due to a dispute in the imperial court. From then on, his life was devoted to this part of the country, and he travelled through half of Yunnan's mountains and waters, expressing the plight of the people in his poetry and writing, defying the powerful and defending the interests of the people, and being loved by them.

杨慎在滇三十年，博览群书，勤于著述，是一位涉猎极广、造诣颇深的文学家。著作多达400余种，后人辑为《升庵集》，且论及明代记诵之博、著述之富，为杨慎第一也。

During his thirty years in Yunnan, Yang Shen was a wide-ranging and accomplished literary scholar, having read many books and written diligently. As many as 400 kinds of writings, later edited for the "Shengan Collection", and the in terms of extensiveness of recitation and richness of writings in the Ming Dynasty, Yang Shen is also the number one.
